Greetings from the President |
Greetings from the President

My dear fellow Rotarians, I must say I have looked to the month of July with much apprehension – the month a new Rotary year begins when the baton of leadership and service is passed on to the new board, where new challenges and new heights are in view for a new team.
With “Rotary Shares” centered as the new theme, I take this opportunity to greet you in our 1st edition of 2007-08 e-Berita, and share with you what is in my mind and my heart for the coming year:
In my heart, I hope, this is a year we shall celebrate friendship & fellowship, with Rotarians, families, friends, those in needs, and future potential Rotarians. We shall share the spirit of Rotary, not just with those around us, but also extends our reach to those who may be in need, far and beyond. I for one have benefited much from the friendship from RCBJ members, and therefore, treasure it tremendously...
In my heart, I hope, this is a year of which we shall have fun while we go around carrying out our service duties as Rotarians with “Service Above Self” in our action. Bound with our strong friendship as members of RCBJ, we shall support our local and international communities, as well as helping to groom the future new generation…
We plan, in this year to bring to you: - fellowship events where we shall tap on the rich & diverse cultures of the members of our club - interesting speaker programs to spice up our Sat morning meetings - partnership in projects with sister clubs & partners - a continuity to support some past projects - our familiar “e-berita” to keep those who can’t be with us and have to miss our Sat meetings, up to date of the happenings of RCBJ and Rotary.
In order for the year to be successful, your BOD & I will need the support of each of you, to help by involving yourself in the activities of the year, be it fellowships, projects, news, etc… Together, RCBJ shall remain one of the best clubs in town…and with your support, the new BOD shall have fun carrying out their duties…
In my heart, I hope, this is once again another year where we shall all enjoy Rotary while reaching out to those who need our help!

11th RCBJ Installation Ceremony/Rotary ITE Student Excellent Award Presentation |
Message from PE Tan Keng Keng
On behalf of our 2007/08 BOD and Installation Planning Committee, I am pleased to confirm our 11th Installation dinner will be held at "Made in China - Hua Song" Haw Par Villa (www.huasong.org), Saturday evening 14th of July 2007.
Our Guest of Honor will be MP Ms Jessica Tan from East Coast, and the price for the dinner will be $55/pax.
The venue itself has a wonderful Chinese Migrant Museum of which I, and perhaps some of you as 2nd/3rd generation Chinese in South East Asia may have the priviledge to share with our Rotarians from other ethnic cultures and overseas rotarians. Evening begins at 6.30pm for those who wish to tour the museum (it is really an interesting one), and seating will be 7.00pm sharp.
Please make a date with yourself, your family to join us in this joyous celebration. We promise it will be an interesting evening and we need your support to make it happen. Other than yourself and your family, please also extend the invitation to your friends, business contacts as it will be a good opportunity for us to share Rotary as we march forward towards Keng Keng |

Celebrating A Decade of Service-10th Anniversary Celebration |
10th Anniversary Celebration....Message from President James Lee.. It is a great honor bestowed upon me to celebrate our club 10 years of success in Rotary services. As I reviewed the RI themes in the last 10 years, I am pleased to share that we have fulfilled the RI theme of “Build the future with action and vision” in the year 1996 where our club was chartered. Indeed the visionary leadership of our Past Presidents is leading our club beyond in “Service above self” and “act with consistency, credibility and continuity”. Be it a Rotary Care, Dream, Sow the seed of love and lend a hand; we definitely have delivered and touched many people near and far to our heart. |

FORBIDDEN CITY Portrait of an Empress: Opening Night Fundraising for Rotary Family Services |
 | Originally co-produced by Esplanade —Theatres on the Bay and Singapore Repertory Theatre for Esplanade's Opening Festival in October 2002. Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress was re-staged in 2003 to almost 60,000 people — making it the most successful Singaporean musical ever produced.
|
View pdf version | Two of the greatest icons of China's ancient history come to life before your eyes in a spectacular musical of epic proportions. Come step into the cloaked world of the Forbidden City and the legendary Empress Dowager Cixi.
You'll be mesmerized by this soulful tale of dark secrets, whispered rumours, love, betrayal and power told through the music of Dick Lee, the lyrics of Stephen Clark and the direction of Steven Dexter. Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress explodes on stage with stunning sets, Yang Derong s exquisitely resplendent costumes and the ever-haunting question of the truth. What really happened in the Forbidden City over a century ago? Who was the real Dowager Empress? Is the Dragon Lady a myth? Or a misunderstood victim of circumstance? |
